Feels like Freedom

Trusting you feels like freedom

Like running through an open field of perfectly cut bright green grass

Covered in wild flowers

With Thumper and Bambi racing alongside

Under a brilliantly blue sky

Without clouds or rain or shade

Free like the slight breeze, babbling brooke, and robins singing in the trees

Trusting you feels like freedom

Like sauntering down a well lit gravel street

Under a harvest moon and infinte stars in the sky

With dogs barking in the distance while thier owners play fetch and wrestle before bedtime

Where owls are perched high, hunting for pray and calling out for thier mate

Free like the multicolored dragfly -- beautiful and bold, resilient and in flight

Trusting you feels like freedom

Like wandering through an endless library with every book in any language ever spoke

Like a warm fireplace,

A hot cup of chocolate, with marshmallows,

An oversized chair in which we both could fit and a blanket that always keeps the temperature just right

Where music plays in the background just faint enough we know it's there but can't quite hum along

So we make up a tune between the notes while we smile at each other over the turn of each page, until we're done

Only to pick up the next one, laying on the table to our side,

Having no better place to be, no greater thing to do, but be lost in a storybook with you

Trusting you feels like freedom

Free like a storm cloud passing by, drenching the earth with replenishing rain

Free like falling down, confidence crushed,

Only to see a hand reaching out, turned to tight hug and a push to encourage you to get back out, to try again,

Now even more emboldened

Free like being lost, and yet unafraid of what's before you

Free like knowing what I don't know now is all the room I have left to keep growing

Trusting you feels like freedom

And freedom is all I'll ever need

To keep showing up as me
